Sigrun Dal - MOD - Catacombs

The ancient Nords that lived here built this place to honour their dead. I have created a structure set into the mountain as space is at a premium and that will give me an opportunity to make some interesting dungeon interiors later on.

It is symbolically guarded by a small Guardhouse near the entrance to warn of potential grave robbers.

A view looking form the entrance toward the valley.

Next I will be adding some points of interest around the valley as the main buildings are now done.

Sigrun Dal - MOD - Jarls Longhouse

Added the Jarls Longhouse at the far end of the village, not sure if its the best place but for now that's where it is.

Nothing  fancy at the moment just putting down structures to see the overall effect.

Next I will be adding the Catacombs.

Sigrun Dal - MOD - The Sawmill

I have added a the Sawmill.

You can see in the background I need to still do loads of work to the landscape. Right now I just want to get the main buildings in so that I can then decide how to use the remaining space.

Next will be the Jaarls Longhouse.

Sigrun Dal - MOD - Houses

I have started to add some housing to the valley, using styles that show more recent activity than the Ancient Nord buildings. The style I chose reflects the available materials in the valley to the builders and so the houses are mostly small stone and timber or all timber constructs. Remember the occupants want to keep the valley a  secret so they cant be walking in and out of the valley with long trains of exotic building supplies.

The inhabitants survive by growing small crops in gardens next to their houses and others have a cow or some chickens for milk and eggs. How did they get the cows and chickens? well when the valley was being established it would have been feasible to bring in a small calf or some eggs to hatch without too much attention being drawn to the valley entrance, probably during a very dark night.

I have also added a water source flowing through the bottom of the valley, melt water and runoff would keep it full and possibly an underground water source would also explain its existence. This body of water has been stocked with local fish varieties which adds to the nutrition of the inhabitants. So those that don't have cows fish and then trade.

Below is a house on the water bank.

Next up some other essential buildings.
